Personal philsophy
In case you want to know what I'm all about in a nutshell
My personal motto is that we cannot learn without mistakes. I do not want to pretend I am perfect or all-knowing about anything I am comfortable facilitating. I love learning and improving; I am eager to know what other people are passionate about or have seen that I don't know about.Hierarchical thinking shuts down people who are new to the equity work conversation. I do not believe one person is better than another, this includes people who have read thousands of books on equity and those who have not read one.I want to build communities and make connections that foster a sense of psychological safety and discovery. "Psychological safety" does not mean perfect comfort, but the knowledge that mistakes can be made and we will pick each other up when we stumble.
Fun Stuff
I like to knit and crochet. I like to collect rocks, crystals, and minerals. I really love horror (books, movies, & video games), dinosaurs, and Pokémon. I have a poodle mix named Tate and two long-haired cats named Ellie and Bea.My favorite book is Frankenstein and some of my favorite authors are Angela Carter, Bonnie Jo Campbell, and Sarah Elizabeth Schantz.I get really geeky about community college research, lit crit and media analysis, linguistics, psychology, and emerging queer writers. One of my FAVORITE things is when people feel comfortable enough to gush about their passions. So please, talk to me about what you love. :)
